FORT WORTH, Texas — Firefighters rescued a horse Friday that got stuck in a cattle guard in North Texas.
Fort Worth firefighters were called to the 10000 block of Alta Vista Road to help the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office free the horse shortly after 5:30 a.m.
A deputy sedated the horse for the horse’s safety and a crew cut and spread the cattle guard to free the three legs that were stuck, according to the fire department. The process took about 45 minutes to completely free the horse.
“They then used a skid steer to move the horse across the road and stand him up in the grass,” the Fort Worth Fire Department wrote on social media. “The horse stood up and they were able to get him loaded into the TCSO trailer.”
The horse had minor cuts and scrapes but no major injuries and was taken to a local veterinarian for examination and treatment, officials said.
