How long are the Oscars? What to know about the 97th Academy Awards

LOS ANGELES — Hollywood’s biggest stars will come together Sunday for the 97th Academy Awards.

Here’s what you need to know about this year’s show:

How long are the Oscars?

The 2025 Academy Awards will run for approximately three-and-a-half hours on Sunday, March 2. The live broadcast will air on ABC and will also be available to stream on Hulu.

Who’s hosting the Oscars this year? Who’s performing?

Conan O’Brien will be hosting the Oscars for the first time in 2025.

“I never have been invited to the Oscars,” the late night host-turned podcaster and occasional movie star said at a news conference Wednesday. “I only hosted so that I could be invited.”

He said compared to all the other things he’s done, hosting the Oscars is like “for the first time getting to drive a Ferrari.”

“I’d like to keep the tuxedo,” he said. “They made me an absolutely beautiful tuxedo. It’s the nicest thing I’ve ever put on in my life.”

While the show has decided not to include performances of the original songs this year, “Wicked” stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo will perform. Queen Latifah will be part of a musical tribute to the late Quincy Jones, who was honored in November with one of the academy’s Governor’s Awards just weeks after his death.

Lisa of Blackpink and Doja Cat will also perform as part of the broadcast. The Los Angeles Master Chorale will also appear.

The ceremony will acknowledge the recent wildfires in a respectful manner, while still allowing winners to celebrate their achievements, show producers said. The show will also feature a new spin on last year’s popular “fab five” presentation format, highlighting some of the behind-the-scenes categories.

The Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, March 2, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The show, to be broadcast live by ABC, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Eastern/4 p.m. Pacific.

In a first, the Oscars will be streamed live on Hulu. You can also watch via Hulu Live TV, YouTubeTV, AT&T TV and FuboTV. With authentication from your provider, you can watch on ABC.com and the ABC app.
