TROPICAL STORM FRANCINE: Landfall expected in Louisiana Wednesday. Small impacts to Texas coast, no impact to San Antonio metro area
FORECAST
Today was our coolest morning (63°) May 17 in San Antonio — 115 days ago! We can thank the low humidity for the pleasant mornings, but it’s not going to last much longer. Expect mid 60s tomorrow morning, then back in the 70s at sunrise starting Wednesday.
The humidity will rise a little bit tomorrow, but you won’t really notice it until Wednesday morning.
TROPICAL STORM FRANCINE
Tropical Storm Francine has formed in the Gulf of Mexico. Heavy rain is expected along the immediate coast for places like Brownsville and South Padre Island today and tomorrow. From there, the storm will track northeast, strengthening into a hurricane Tuesday, but only skimming the Texas coast. Francine will make landfall along the Louisiana Coast. There will be no impacts to San Antonio.
Storm surge along the Texas coast will be minimal, perhaps only 1-2 feet from Brownsville to Galveston. Dangerous storm surge is expected in Louisiana.
We will continue to keep you posted on Francine!
