I-35 narrowed to one southbound lane near Texas/Oklahoma border

ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – Major traffic delays are reported on southbound I-35 near Thackerville after the Oklahoma Department of Transportation says the interstate has been narrowed to one lane.

The narrowing is apparently caused by a hole in the road on the bridge, according to a post from the Love County Sheriff Office Facebook Page.

OHP stated that drivers should expect significant delays and use caution if they plan to travel that way.

News 12 crews report that on Sunday afternoon, the narrowed lanes caused about 35 minutes of stop-and-go traffic near the Winstar Casino to the Texas-Oklahoma border.

A Love County commissioner advises that for drivers already caught in the traffic near Winstar, the fastest way into Texas is to continue through the traffic across the I-35 Red River bridge. Taking Exit 1 or Brown Springs Road will not provide a route across the river.

Drivers looking for another route into Texas should consider the Willis Bridge in Madill, the bridge on Highway 89 in Courtney, or the Red River Bridge on US 69/75 in Bryan County.

Drivers choosing the Bryan County bridge should note that Southbound US 69 is narrowed to one lane near Calera.
