DALLAS — On Thursday, as WFAA recognizes Luka Doncic’s career with the Dallas Mavericks, former Mavs CEO Cynt Marshall has took to social media to share her memories of working with the superstar.

Dallas has been memorializing Doncic since news broke Saturday that he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, along with Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris, In exchange the Mavs received Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick from the Lakers.

Marshall, who retired as the Mavs’ CEO effective Jan. 1 after serving in the role since 2018, had lots of praise for Doncic, who she said joined the team three months after she did.

“Call it great luck (or a blessing) that we drafted Luka and JB three months after I joined the team in 2018,” she wrote on her Instagram story. “I was delighted to see him on Christmas Day 2024, my last game as the CEO. I will always appreciate that he was loyal, unfazed, kind and authentic…I love our fans. I love our team. I love Luka.”

She also posted photos of herself with Doncic, including when he was named Rookie of the Year in 2019.

She was replaced by Rick Welts, who previously served as President and COO of Golden State Warriors, President of the NBA’s Pheonix Suns and the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury.
