‘I see opportunity’: Former SMU football player bringing new housing project to Southern Dallas

The project will sit on 12 acres just off I-20 and Bonnie View Road.

DALLAS, Texas — There’s a new development coming to Southern Dallas bringing hundreds of new housing units to the area.

Work has just begun on the new development called The Adaline as a groundbreaking ceremony was held on Thursday.

It will sit on 12 acres just off I-20 and Bonnie View Road. The project is a vision from former SMU football player Mikial Uno.

“I see opportunity,” he said. “We can design and build something that’s so quality, it will be quality anywhere.”

Uno is the founder of the real estate development company Uno Ventures. The plot of land will be grounds for 238 multifamily apartments, condos, and townhomes. The property will also have a jogging trail, dog park, and fitness center with a pool.

Uno said they’ve worked on this project for the last two years, and finally seeing it come to fruition is a dream come true.

“I just see an area where all people’s immediate needs are serviced on one site,” he said.

Along with the living spaces with full amenities, Uno said the property will have a grocery store and retail shop; something Mayor Pro-Tem Tennell Atkins said is necessary for this area’s growth.

“We are very short on houses right now. You will have more people working and staying in their houses. Eat, work, sleep, and entertain in your neighborhood and you will grow the development,” said Atkins.

Uno said the construction of the grocery and retail store is projected to be completed by this fall, followed by the apartment units by the end of 2025 or early 2026.

Uno’s dream is now one step closer to becoming a reality.
