Parents who have the love and patience to help Dario in life will adopt a child with a heart of gold whose smile will always brighten their day.
DALLAS — Dario is a young boy who is bursting with energy. He’s been in foster care for four years and is waiting for a loving family to adopt him.
Today’s Wednesday’s Child is 10-year-old Dario, who is described as all smiles and love.
Dario showcased his million-dollar smile during his adventure at We Rock the Spectrum in Dallas. When he saw WFAA’s cameras, he channeled his inner reporter.
“Hi. My name is Dario. Welcome to the News. That’s It,” he said laughing.
Dario is full of personality and he keeps swinging no matter the circumstances.
“I’m happy. I’m nice. I’m smart. I like to be happy all the time,” he said.
Merle Owens is Dario’s new foster mom. He calls her Miss Mimi.
“He’s a firecracker. I describe Dario as strong-willed with a passion for music, football, and anything outdoors,” said Owens.
“I like Miss Mimi,” said Dario after hugging her. He told WFAA he wants a family to adopt him who treats him the way Miss Mimi does.
“He’s very loving,” she said smiling.
Miss Alicia, Dario’s court-appointed special advocate, has known him the longest. She surprised Dario during his visit to the indoor playground. When he saw her, he lit up!
“She likes me,” he said. “I feel happy when she come visit me all the time.”
Dario has been in foster care for four years and has learning difficulties, but his advocates say with the right family, he will continue to thrive.
“He needs a family that has the patience and the understanding and wants to build that relationship with him so that he can grow as a person,” said Owens.
She says there are sweet kids, and then there’s Dario.
“He’s Dario and he’s amazing.”
