Instant Analysis: Texas wins, but has to clean up the penalties moving forward

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Too many yellow flags landed on the field Saturday at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, during Texas’ 27-24 win over Vanderbilt.

The No. 5 Longhorns were flagged for 10 fouls totaling 108 yards including a targeting penalty on Vernon Broughton which will cause him to miss the first half of Texas’ next game Nov. 9 against Florida. Texas was called for holding six times and had three 15-yard fouls with Broughton’s wiping out a 69-yard interception return by Kobe Black.

Texas overcame the sloppy play with a great performance on third down, converting 9 of 15 to keep drives alive.

Noah Gross and Billy Gates break down the win for the Longhorns and what’s ahead for the team as they continue Southeastern Conference play.
