Investigation underway after man is shot on East Side

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are investigating after a man in his 40s was shot on the city’s East Side early Monday morning.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Roland Road near the intersection with J Street, not far from Herrera Park and Interstate 10.

According to police, officers arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound to his back. Police said the victim told officers that he was shot by an unknown person in a white truck, during a road rage incident while driving home from work.

Authorities say however that after an extensive search, officers were unable to locate the victim’s vehicle or a crime scene.

SAPD did say another shooting call came out in the 700 block of Chickering Avenue where the victim’s girlfriend said she was with the victim sitting in a vehicle. That’s when an unknown white vehicle drove up and fired several gunshots and chased the victim as he attempted to flee. The man was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

Police say they are still trying to sort through what exactly happened. A description of a possible suspect was not given. A motive is not exactly known.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all responded to the calls.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
