Jacksonville police chief terminated after ‘poor judgement, disengagement and disrespect’

Assistant Police Chief Steven Markasky has been named the acting chief of police.

JACKSONVILLE, Texas — Jacksonville Police Chief Joe Williams was let go after he allegedly showed a “pattern of poor judgement, disengagement and disrespect.”

James  Hubbard, city manager, said he decided to end Williams’ service as police chief after almost five years of Williams being in the role. The decision was made Thursday.

“A pattern of poor judgement, disengagement, and disrespect culminated in my decision,” Hubbard said. “I wish Mr. Williams well and look forward to naming a new chief that will provide the  service and professionalism deserved by the department, organization, and community.”
