After two rounds of bankruptcy, Joann is closing hundreds of stores across 49 states, including several here in North Texas.
DALLAS — Popular crafting and fabrics chain Joann is shutting down over half of its stores amid bankruptcy proceedings.
On Wednesday, the company filed a motion in court to close 533 of its 800 U.S. stores. Included in that list are 18 locations in Texas. Half of the locations being shuttered in the Lone Star State are located in North Texas.
The move comes after the company filed for bankruptcy twice within the last year. In April 2024, the company completed a restructuring that saw it delisted from the U.S. stock exchange and become a private company as part of a bankruptcy deal.
The company announced on Jan. 15 that it was seeking court approval in Delaware to begin selling “substantially all of its assets,” according to a press release about the move.
