DALLAS — Buy low, sell high? Yeah, this is not that.
After the Luka Doncic trade to the Los Angeles Lakers was announced late Saturday night, Facebook Marketplace became filled with Doncic jerseys for sale — on the cheap.
Home, road, alternate, City Edition, throwbacks, NBA Finals editions … you name it, Mavericks fans were listing it. One seller claimed to have numerous Doncic jerseys, all for a dollar apiece.
We’ll let you judge the legitimacy of that one, but their listing says they’re a “heartbroken Mavs fan. Love Luka, MFFL, I only rock jerseys of current players though.”
Despite the Luka selloff, fans aren’t mad at Doncic, who reportedly did not know the trade before it happened. Instead, much of the ire has been targeted at Mavericks management, specifically general manager Nico Harrison, who engineered the deal. And there’s plenty of frustration — and questions — being directed at the team’s relatively new ownership, the Adelson family. Why would they approve of trading away a generational player and the face of the franchise?
That’s a question plenty of Mavericks fans are wondering as they list their Luka jerseys for sale.
