The world’s greatest comms director and press secretary has struck again. After completely fumbling her briefing on the devastating Maui fire on Monday, Karine Jean-Pierre managed to completely expose Joe Biden’s X account on Tuesday.
If there was any question about who has actually been writing the president’s posts, it has now been answered.
According to those who saw the original post, it stayed up for about 20 minutes before Jean-Pierre realized her mistake and deleted it.
Was anyone really under the impression that Biden was formulating his own social media posts? Of course, not. It’s been obvious for a long time that the president is simply not in the right mental shape to be in charge of something so sensitive. We’ve all heard Biden say random, inappropriate things in public. Imagine if he had the whole world at his fingertips at all times of the day. The results wouldn’t be pretty, both for him and the nation.
Still, while it’s understood that some politicians don’t control their own accounts at all times, that’s typically a secret that is closely guarded in order to keep up appearances. Once the mask is off, it’s hard to take anything that politician’s account says again seriously. Posts of condolences or covering other serious matters suddenly hold no weight because you know it’s just some comms official making it all up behind the scenes.
Certainly, this revelation doesn’t help the perception that Biden is a puppet in his own administration. He’s already incredibly scripted as far as his public appearances and interactions with the press go. It’d be fair to ask what exactly the president is in control of at this point.
Naturally, after Jean-Pierre’s mistake, some people on X had fun with it.
At what point is there a serious conversation about how terrible of a comms director Karine Jean-Pierre is? Her professional foibles during briefings have been well-documented, and now she can’t even keep her social media accounts straight, leading to the exposure of the president. I’d ask when she finally loses her job, but it seems like she’s got pretty thick plot armor given all her intersectional claims.
