Austin Metcalf’s father showed up the a press conference held by Karmelo Anthony’s family.
DALLAS — A press conference held on Thursday by an organization representing the family of Frisco track meet stabbing suspect Karmelo Anthony was delayed after victim Austin Metcalf’s father attempted to attend.
Anthony, the Frisco teenager accused of fatally stabbing Metcalf at a track meet earlier this month, was released from jail Monday after posting bond. His family was scheduled to host a press conference Thursday to dispute a “wave of falsehoods” about the family, according to Next Generation Action Network, a Dallas-based group advocating on the family’s behalf.
The press conference was scheduled for 11 a.m. but was delayed after Austin Metcalf’s father, Jeff Metcalf, arrived at the organization’s headquarters. The organization’s office is located inside a co-working space.
The Next Generation Action Network called Dallas police to have him removed. Eventually, the building’s owner asked Metcalf to leave and multiple police officers escorted him out of the building.
Metcalf shook the officer’s hand after he was escorted out and left without incident.
A court order prevents Karmelo Anthony from having any contact with the Metcalf family. Karmelo Anthony did not attend the press conference, according to Next Generation Action Network. The organization said it would not proceed with the press conference until Metcalf left.
The press conference started around 11:50 a.m.
