A North Texas evangelical leader who accused Vice President Kamala Harris of practicing “witchcraft” during this month’s presidential debate will campaign with Ohio Sen. JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential nominee.
Vance’s campaign announced the senator will join a town hall Saturday in Pennsylvania with Lance Wallnau, a Keller-based self-described “prophet” who is leading a series of political rallies in swing states.
Wallnau is perhaps best known for coining the “seven mountains” mandate, which commands Christians to seek leadership in seven key areas of society — church, education, family, media, arts, business and government.
In recent weeks, the pastor has led the “Courage Tour,” drawing hundreds to revival-style rallies for former PresidentDonald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee. The events draw tens of thousands of people online, where Wallnau broadcasts the speakers on his show. Saturday’s rally is in Monroeville, a suburb of Pittsburgh.
“America’s Awakening Begins Here,” the tour’s website says.
Earlier this month, Wallnau warned Harris is being guided by demonic forces and has used “the spirit of Jezebel” to deceive followers.
“She can look presidential,” Wallnau said in a video he posted to X, referring to Harris’ debate performance. “That’s the seduction of what I would say is witchcraft. That’s the manipulation of imagery that creates an impression contrary to the truth, but it seduces you into seeing it. So that spirit, that occult spirit, I believe is operating on her and through her.”
Wallnau and a spokesperson for the Trump campaign did not respond to emails or phone calls Friday from The Dallas Morning News seeking comment.
Evangelicals have provided critical support to Trump. In 2020, roughly 71% of white Americans who attended religious services at least once a month voted for Trump, according to the Pew Research Center.
On his website, Wallnau credits himself for being one of only three evangelical leaders to accurately predict Trump’s 2016 victory from the moment he began his campaign. He wrote God’s Chaos Candidate: Donald J. Trump and the American Unraveling and God’s Chaos Code.
Wallnau joined pro-Trump protesters in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, 2021, to pray for divine intervention to stop Congress from certifying the electoral count as rioters attacked the U.S. Capitol, NBC News reported.
