Kentucky headed to CWS elimination game after falling to Texas A&M
Kentucky baseball struggled at the plate Monday night in its second game of the College World Series against Texas A&M.The Wildcats managed just four hits and one run in the ninth, falling to the Aggies 5-1.It was a pitching battle for the first five innings, but Texas A&M busted the game wide open with a 5-run inning in the top of the 6th. Texas A&M’s Ryan Prager nearly threw a perfect game through 6.2 innings, giving up just one walk, while striking out four Wildcats across those innings.It wouldn’t be until the bottom of the 9th inning when Kentucky would get on the scoreboard, with Ryan Nicholson sending one over the right field wall. But his one homer wouldn’t be enough of a rally for the Wildcats to get back in it.The Aggies’ Josh Stewart would strike out Kentucky’s final batter to end the game and stay in the winners portion of the bracket.This dropped Kentucky out of the winners side of its bracket and now they’ll be playing an elimination game on Tuesday.Kentucky will play Florida on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET, with the loser going home. If Kentucky wins that game, they’ll play the Aggies again on Wednesday, and will have to beat them again on Thursday to make the championship.The championship series begins on Saturday and will be a best two-of-three series.
