ORIGINAL STORY: A boil water notice remains in effect in the City of Kirby days after a water outage was caused by several main breaks, according to a post on the city’s Facebook page.

City officials said Friday the outage had been resolved, but a boil water notice was issued, per Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations.

The outage, which first arose on Thursday evening, was resolved by Friday afternoon, city officials said.

In the Sunday evening Facebook update, the city announced that, due to an interruption in water service, the boil notice remains in effect, per TCEQ guidance.

The post said everyone in Kirby must boil water before drinking, cooking, washing their hands or face, brushing their teeth or making ice.

Water should be boiled for at least two minutes before use.

The post also stated that the reason for the boil notice was due to reduced distribution system pressure.

The city said that locals would be notified when the notice was lifted via Facebook. Questions are to be directed to Kirby’s Public Works Department through their email or by phone at 210-661-8515.

KSAT is monitoring the incident and will update this story as more information becomes available.
