DALLAS — Amid the winter storm bringing sleet and snow to North Texas, some major malls and retailers have announced plans to close early, while others remain open.
Albertsons and Tom Thumb stores in North Texas announced plans to close early Thursday at 7 p.m. and reopen tomorrow at 9 a.m. A spokesperson tells WFAA that they expect to resume normal business hours after that, but are monitoring the weather.
H-E-B and their affiliate Joe V’s Smart Shop in Dallas are closing stores in North Texas including Allen, Alliance, Burleson, Cleburne, Ennis, Frisco stores, Granbury, Hudson Oaks, Mansfield, McKinney, Plano, Stephenville and Waxahachie are closing at 10 p.m. Thursday and reopening at 8 a.m. Friday.
Kroger says a handful of their DFW stores are closing at 10 p.m., but most of their local stores are open regular hours. They say some stores will also open later tomorrow at 7 a.m. as needed.
Whole Foods confirmed some stores in North Texas have limited hours during the storm.
NorthPark Center is closing early at 6 p.m. Thursday and reopening at noon Friday, according to a post on their Facebook page. Individual store, restaurant, theatre and spa hours will vary.
Galleria Dallas closed Thursday at 4 p.m.
Grapevine Mills Mall, Allen Premium Outlets and Grand Prairie Premium Outlets closed early at 1 p.m. Thursday, according to a post on Facebook. Individual store and restaurant hours will vary. All three are operated by Simon.
Another Simon mall, North East Mall in Hurst, closed early at 4 p.m.
IKEA’s Frisco and Southlake stores closed early at noon and the Grand Prairie store closed at 1 p.m.
The winter storm warning is in effect for much of North Texas as snow and sleet move through the area through Friday morning, leading to widespread school and municipal closures as well.
