Liz Cheney Goes on Another Unhinged, Anti-Trump Diatribe on ‘Meet The Press’

Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) is back on the “Orange Man Bad” circuit less than a month before the presidential election. During an appearance on NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” she issued frantic warnings about former President Donald Trump going full fascist if he gets reelected.

The former lawmaker told host Kristen Welker that the former president “believes he will be immune for anything he does once he’s in office,” referencing a recent Supreme Court ruling to that effect.

Cheney predictably chose to back Vice President Kamala Harris and has been on the campaign trail with the candidate. “He will not respect the rulings of our courts, and people have to realize our courts can’t enforce their own rulings. So if a president refuses to carry out his obligation to do so, then we are no longer a nation of laws,” Cheney bloviated.

Welker brought up comments made by Gen. Mark Milley claiming that the Orange Man What Is Bad™ is “a fascist to the core.”

Cheney said she sees “no reason to disagree with that assessment.”

Of course, foreign policy is also an issue for Cheney, who is likely salivating at the thought of more war in the Middle East. She criticized Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) for supporting “a very isolationist foreign policy and an erratic and a chaotic foreign policy,” while waving away serious policy disagreements with Harris and the Democrats:

Harris has come under fire for having Cheney at her campaign events – especially from the Muslim community:

The American Muslim 2024 Election Task Force condemned the appearance, referring to Cheney as a “torture defender” and pointing out that Harris is alienating key demographic groups.

The task force, a coalition of Muslim political organizations, slammed Harris in a press release for platforming Cheney, referring to her support for policies associated with the Bush-Cheney administration, including the use of torture in interrogations.

“Vice President Harris should have never hosted a campaign event alongside Liz Cheney, an anti-Muslim bigot and far-right war hawk who continues to openly endorse the crime of torture, including waterboarding,” the coalition declared. They further stated that “the Harris campaign’s decision to platform Cheney is an insult to every American who worked to oppose the Bush-Cheney administration’s criminal policies and to everyone around the world who died due to those policies.”

As they say, politics makes for some strange bedfellows. In this case, a far-leftist presidential candidate is being supported by a neocon.

However, the reality is that nobody cares what Cheney thinks. She was voted out of office in a primary because she focused more on bashing Trump than on doing her job as a lawmaker. Now, Democrats have a strange new respect for her because she’s shilling for Harris.
