Longtime Forest Park mini-train will keep chugging through Trinity and Forest Parks in Fort Worth after new agreement reached

The new agreement comes eight months after Forest Park Rides reopened following repairs and upgrades.

FORT WORTH, Texas — The 65-year-old Forest Park miniature train in Fort Worth will keep chugging. It’s on track to keep trekking riders 5 miles between Forest and Trinity parks for another 20 years.

When it opened, it was considered the longest miniature railway in the world, according to the owners.

Forest Park Rides Inc., the owners of the popular attraction at 1700 Colonial Parkway, renegotiated its operating license agreement with the city of Fort Worth which was set to expire Oct. 31, 2026.

The Fort Worth City Council this week approved an agreement that allows for the train and associated concession stand to begin operating under a new 10-year lease. That agreement has two five-year lease renewal options that could push operations to 2044.

The new agreement comes eight months after Forest Park Rides reopened following repairs and upgrades.
