The closures announced this week included 66 stores across the U.S., including six in Texas. Five of those stores are in North Texas.
DALLAS — Five Macy’s department stores in North Texas are closing, among dozens of others nationwide.
The closures are part of Macy’s “Bold New Chapter” strategy, which includes closing around 150 stores and re-investing in 350 “go-forward” locations, according to a company press release.
The closures announced this week included 66 stores across the U.S., including six in Texas. Five of those stores are in North Texas:
- Fairview, 201 Stacy Road
- Shops at Willow Bend in Plano, 6209 W. Park Blvd.
- Southlake Town Square in Southlake, 321 State St.
- West Bend in Fort Worth, 1751 River Run
- Highlands of Flower Mound, 6101 Long Prairie Road
The other Texas store announced in the closures was at the Almeda Mall in Houston. It wasn’t yet clear when the six Texas stores would close.
“Closing any store is never easy, but as part of our Bold New Chapter strategy, we are closing underproductive Macy’s stores to allow us to focus our resources and prioritize investments in our go-forward stores, where customers are already responding positively to better product offerings and elevated service,” Tony Spring, chairman and chief executive officer of Macy’s, Inc., said in the release.
Macy’s still has several locations across North Texas, including at NorthPark Center in Dallas.
