I’m a wee bit surprised that Democrats haven’t already been pounding the “Trumpers are Gonna Do Violence If He Loses” line ad nauseam. Sure, some have alluded to this possibility, but not with their usual hysteria.
That appears to be changing.
Rep. Mad Maxine Waters (D-CA), during an appearance on MSNBC, sounded the clarion call, warning about the potential for violence if President Joe Biden manages to win the 2024 presidential election.
Waters slammed the former president for rightly pointing out that his Manhattan conviction was nothing more than a political ploy to help Biden win in November. Then, she pivoted to the craziness, claiming that domestic terrorism is going to happen if Trump is defeated.
I am going to spend some time with the criminal justice system, with the justice system, telling us what’s going on with the domestic terrorists. Are they preparing a civil war against us. Should we be concerned about our safety? What is [Trump] doing with this divisive language? It is dangerous and we’re going to have to make sure that we’re not at risk with this man talking in the way he’s doing.
It appears the rest of the Democrats got the messaging memo. President Biden on Monday criticized Trump for saying there could be a “breaking point” for his voters and that the public would not “stand for it” if the court places him under house arrest during sentencing. Team Biden issued a pearl-clutching statement claiming that this was a call to violence.
Consumed by his own rage and thirst for revenge, convicted felon Donald Trump is teeing up political violence, threatening the Constitution, and pitting Americans against one another.
In this chronically divided political atmosphere, one doesn’t know what will happen regardless of the outcome of the upcoming election. But why are there no concerns about political violence coming from the left if Trump emerges victorious?
There is ample reason to be worried about the possibility of left-wing violence in this scenario. Currently, the nation is seeing widespread unrest committed by the pro-Hamas activist class, members of which have been holding demonstrations on college campuses. Many of these protests have resulted in violence against Jewish students. In one case, a pro-Hamas protester struck a Jewish student journalist in the eye with a Palestinian flag.
Of course, we would be remiss to forget the “Summer of Love,” in which leftist agitators engaged in riots, looting, and the destruction of property after the murder of George Floyd. Several people were killed during the violence as rioters devastated black communities under the guise of protesting police brutality.
Italia Marie Kelly, a 22-year-old woman was killed in Davenport, Iowa after leaving a protest that she attended after getting off work. When she saw that the crowd was getting more intense, she decided to leave. Unfortunately, she was struck by a random bullet.
So far, 12 people nationwide have died from the riots. The violence has had a deleterious impact on local minority-owned businesses as well. In fact, the damage that the rioters have done will likely remain long after they have left.
If anything, we should be more afraid of left-wing violence after the election, given their track record. Yet, Mad Max seeks to con viewers into believing there are hordes of right-wing militias training in the hills so that they can mete out violence if their preferred candidate loses.
Of course, this is coming from the woman who exhorted her supporters to harass members of the Trump administration if they saw them in public, so the attempt to deflect is understandable in that case.
The reality is that political violence could be an increasingly probable scenario. Unfortunately, folks like Waters are more concerned with politicizing the matter than actually figuring out ways to protect all Americans, regardless of political affiliation.
