The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20.
DALLAS — A “major fatal accident” shut down Interstate 20 at Highway 310 in southern Dallas on Sunday morning, according to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office posted about the crash at 3:30 a.m. Sunday and said it happened in the eastbound lanes. TxDOT cameras showed crews on scene and smoke pluming from below the I-20 bridge at TX-310 around 2:40 a.m. Sunday morning.
WFAA sent a crew to the scene and it appears an 18-wheeler fell from the overpass onto the service road below. It was still unclear Sunday morning if there were other vehicles involved in the crash – and if so, how many – or how many people died.
WFAA’s crew saw lots of damage to guard rails on both sides of the overpass, and TxDOT cameras showed crews making repairs those portions of the damaged overpass.

The interstate was shut down for hours on Sunday morning and traffic was being diverted at Interstate 45, DCSO said.
