Man arrested after standoff with Arlington officers for stealing firearm from a car, police say

Sinclair Mann, 38, was arrested by Arlington police for stealing a gun from a car, the department said.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Arlington officers arrested a man after a standoff for stealing a gun from a car, police said.

The Arlington Police Department said officers responded to a burglary from a vehicle in the 5400 block of Hidden Oaks Lane around 5 p.m. on Saturday. The owner told police that a man had broken into his car and stolen multiple things, including a gun, and that he captured the theft on video, APD announced.

The department said officers then tracked the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Sinclair Mann, to a home in the 5700 block of Homestead Court. When officers arrived at the home, they spoke to Mann’s relatives, who said he was inside, but Mann refused to come out, police said.

Since officers believed Mann was armed, they set up a perimeter around the home and called in the APD SWAT team to assist, APD said. According to a department spokesperson, the SWAT team deployed gas into the home, and Mann came out and surrendered to officers around midnight Sunday.

APD booked Mann into the Arlington City Jail and then transferred to the Tarrant County Jail, where he faces one count of burglary of a vehicle and one count of theft of a firearm, jail records show.
