Man arrested, charged with assault after altercation near Travis Park, SAPD says

  

SAN ANTONIO – A man was arrested after assaulting another man during an altercation near Travis Park early Monday, according to San Antonio police.

The fight happened just before 2:30 a.m. in the 300 block of East Travis Street downtown.

According to an SAPD preliminary report, the suspect, identified as Hernando Santiago Bernal, 59, was arrested for assault and threatening a police officer.

Bernal approached a man, and after the man turned away, Bernal began to hit the man in the head, the report said.

The man then pulled a knife in defense but did not use it. When police arrived, Bernal was placed in custody, police said.

Police said in their report that Bernal appeared to be intoxicated.

The injured man was treated at the scene by EMS officials, police said.
