SCHERTZ, Texas – A man accused in the attempted abduction of a 10-year-old boy has been taken into custody, Schertz police confirmed Thursday night.
Authorities said officers located a van on Thursday that matched the suspect vehicle’s description at a construction site near the area of the initial report.

The driver, identified as 33-year-old Ismael Ortega Quiroz, was placed under surveillance while investigators developed probable cause for an arrest warrant.
Schertz police said Quiroz is being held on a charge of attempted kidnapping, which is a felony.
Quiroz will be transported to the Bexar County Adult Detention Center, and his bond will be set upon processing.
Background
Officers first responded to a call about a man attempting to lure the boy into a van at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 12500 block of Barr Way, the department said.
The child ran from the scene and was unharmed.
Quiroz was driving a white van with ladders on top, black rims, tinted windows and a rusted front grille guard.
Schertz police Chief Jim Lowery said the department increased patrols in the immediate area.
“We commend the child for not approaching the vehicle and for seeking help,” Lowery said in a news release. “Please take the time to speak to your children and remind them about stranger danger.”
