NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas — A 32-year-old man has been arrested on an intoxication manslaughter charge in the hit-and-run death of a 16-year-old last month in North Richland Hills, police said.

Fernando Peralta-Berrios was arrested Monday in the May 16 crash, which happened in the 8600 block of eastbound Texas 183/Airport Freeway, which is near the Northeast Loop 820 split, according to a police news release.

A 911 caller had reported that a vehicle hit a pedestrian and then drove away.

The victim, a 16-year-old, was taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center, where they died, police said.

Police have not released the name of the victim.

Officials said North Richland Hills investigators, along with Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission investigators, identified Peralta-Berrios as the suspect and got arrest warrants for him on charges of intoxication manslaughter and collision involving personal injury or death. Both charges are second-degree felonies in Texas.

Peralta-Berrios’ bond was set at $250,000 for each charge.
