SAN ANTONIO – A man was charged with intoxication assault after two separate car crashes involving five vehicles occurred Monday on the North Side, according to San Antonio police.

Officers responded to the crash around 8:38 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Stahl and Judson roads.

The man, identified by SAPD on Wednesday as 42-year-old Brian Austin Peralta, was driving a black Ford pickup truck and disregarded a red light going north on Judson Road. He struck another vehicle, causing the initial crash, according to a preliminary report from SAPD.

The driver in the Ford then fled from the scene but later ran a red light at Stahl Road, striking a driver in a Nissan car, police said.

As a result of the crash, the Nissan was pushed into two vehicles that were stopped on Judson Road.

Police said the driver of the Nissan was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The man driving the Ford truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. After he was evaluated, he was arrested for intoxication assault, according to the report.
