Man dies after being shot by his estranged wife, police say

 

Officers responded to a shooting around 1:07 a.m. in east Fort Worth, according to a release from Fort Worth police.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A man died Wednesday after he was shot by his estranged wife, Fort Worth police said. 

Officers responded to a shooting call around 1:07 a.m. Jan 1 in the 8800 block of Sabinas Trail, Fort Worth police said in a press release. Upon arrival, officers identified the suspect leaving the home and detained her, police said. 

Officers found a victim inside the home with a gunshot wound to his torso, the release states. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. 

Detectives learned that the victim and suspect were getting divorced, but live in the same house, police said. 

The suspect, victim and a witness got into an argument and the suspect and witness retreated to a bathroom and locked the door, police said. The victim forced his way into the room and the suspect shot him, police said. 

Fort Worth police are investigating the incident.
