Man dies following house fire in Dallas, officials say

According to Dallas Fire-Rescue, the man was found unresponsive in the house.

DALLAS — Dallas Fire-Rescue said it is investigating the cause of a house fire that resulted in a man’s death Friday afternoon.

According to DFR, units were assigned to the house fire in the 2000 block of Pleasant Drive around 5:32 p.m.

DFR said when firefighters arrived at the one-story home, a lot of smoke was visible. Crews entered the home and began battling the flames in an area near the back of the house, eventually putting it out at 6:13 p.m., DFR said.

According to officials, once the flames were doused firefighters found an unresponsive man inside the home. Crews pulled his body outside where medics performed life-saving measures, however, he was then taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, DFR said.

Dallas Fire-Rescue said the fire caused moderate damage to the home and is believed to have started near the back of it.

The exact cause will remain undetermined pending the Medical Examiner’s final ruling on the victim’s cause of death, DFR said.
