Man hit by car, killed after attempting to cross Loop 410 on North Side, SAPD says

  

SAN ANTONIO – A man is dead after San Antonio police said he attempted to cross Loop 410 and was struck by a car early Tuesday morning.

The crash was reported around 5:45 a.m. on the westbound lanes of Loop 410 at Nacogdoches.

While traversing, the man struck the passenger side area of a passing vehicle. The driver stopped and called 911, police said in a preliminary report on Tuesday afternoon.

As a result of the crash, traffic was backed up from Nacogdoches Road past Harry Wurzbach and Ira Lee for several hours, stretching as far as Austin Highway. Loop 410 was closed in the area as crews worked.

The San Antonio Fire Department pronounced the man dead. An identification from the Bexar County Medical Examiner is still pending.

The westbound lanes of Loop 410 reopened late Tuesday morning, Transguide cameras in the area showed.

SAPD’s investigation remains ongoing.
