Man in West Side shooting dies, suspect flees scene, SAPD says

  

SAN ANTONIO – A man who had been critically injured in a shooting on the West Side had died, according to a preliminary report from SAPD.

Officers were dispatched to the shooting around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Paso Chico Alley, which is located south of the intersection of Merida Street and South Brazos Street.

According to SAPD, a man in his 30s was found on the ground. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Jason Huizar, 32.

Witnesses told police that the suspect, who is possibly in his 30s, fled south of the crime scene toward South Brazos Street.

Officers later detained a person for a felony warrant matching the suspect’s description; however, police confirmed in their Thursday report the person was not connected to the shooting.
