Man killed after vehicle backs into McDonald’s restaurant, city officials say

 

A red Toyota truck was backing out of a parking spot, accelerated abruptly, and struck a man walking out of the restaurant, police said.

LEWISVILLE, Texas — A man has died after being struck by a red truck while walking out of a Lewisville McDonald’s, city officials told WFAA.

The city of Lewisville said a 911 call came in at approximately 9:25 a.m. Saturday about a pedestrian hit at the McDonald’s in the 700 block of West Main Street. City officials told WFAA “the driver of a red Toyota truck was backing out of a parking spot, accelerated very abruptly, and struck a man walking out of the restaurant.” The man died at the scene, according to the city.

The driver of the Toyota truck was taken to Medical City Lewisville hospital. City officials told WFAA they are investigating whether the driver had possible medical issue, causing him to accelerate quickly.

The identities of both the driver and the man who was struck have not been released by officials. 

The area was closed off Saturday morning as investigators worked the scene, city officials told WFAA.
