SAN ANTONIO – A man died in a house fire on the West Side, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.
Just before 3 p.m. Tuesday, fire crews responded to a structure fire located in the 1000 block of Montezuma Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming out of the house and the structure of the home starting to collapse.
Fire crews entered the home through a window to attack the fire when they found a man in his 60s who was reportedly disabled, SAFD said.
“He may have had difficulty getting out [of the home],” SAFD said.
Firefighters attempted to perform life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has not yet been identified. No firefighters were injured.
SAFD said it took 20 minutes to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
