Man shot by driver of 18-wheeler in road rage incident on Loop 410, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are searching for the driver of an 18-wheeler that shot a man three times during a road rage incident early Wednesday morning.

The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. on Loop 410, not far from South W.W. White Road.

According to police, the victim was driving a multi-vehicle tow truck and was involved in a road rage incident with the driver of an 18-wheeler. That’s when, police say, the driver of the 18-wheeler shot the victim three times and then continued on Interstate 35 northbound. The driver of the 18-wheeler has not been found.

Police said the victim, a man in his 40s, pulled over to get help near Interstate 35 and Rittiman Road and was taken by ambulance to Brooke Army Medical Center in critical condition, where he has since stabilized.

SAPD said part of the highway was closed for about two hours while officers worked at the scene.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all responded to the call.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, police said.
