According to a family member who reached out to KSAT, Holmes was the person that San Antonio police shot on Christmas Eve near the Olmos H-E-B. Police have not named either suspect in Tuesday’s incident, but court records appear to line up with the family member’s claim that Holmes was involved in both cases.

Police said Tuesday that they were seeking two individuals wanted for “violent offenses” — including one who had an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon — and that the person shot was 19.

When KSAT first asked for the newest booking photo on Wednesday, county officials said he was still in the hospital and hadn’t been magistrated yet.

Shooting leaves man paralyzed

The victim and his father were leaving their home when Holmes stood across the street. Holmes walked toward a stolen vehicle and flashed a gun before he started shooting, the affidavit said.

Holmes fired shots toward the victim, who was behind his father in the driveway of their home, according to San Antonio police.

The victim and his father ran and tried to find cover as Holmes continued to aim the gun, the affidavit stated.

The father hid behind a parked vehicle. However, the victim was shot once in his lower back, the affidavit said.

Authorities said the victim was taken to a local hospital and suffered paralysis from the waist down.

Holmes’ arrest affidavit noted there was Ring surveillance footage of the shooting.

The victim’s father told police that Holmes was wearing dark-colored clothing when the shooting happened, according to the affidavit. The surveillance footage matched that description, SAPD said.

Another witness, who was with Holmes on the night of the shooting, described the suspect as wearing dark-colored clothing, the affidavit said.

The witness told police that Holmes was given a gun to serve as a lookout in carjackings, authorities stated.

Upon further investigation, police found images of Holmes posing with multiple guns on social media and discovered that he had communicated about the shooting, the affidavit said.

San Antonio police shoot suspect during chase on North Side, chief says

A San Antonio police officer shot a 19-year-old man who was evading police on the North Side, according to SAPD Chief William McManus.

The shooting happened just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Melrose Place, near Howard Street.

McManus said a covert unit was tracking two men wanted for “violent offenses.” One of the men had an active warrant for aggravated assault.

A preliminary report from SAPD stated officers set up surveillance outside an apartment in the 100 block of Melrose. After several hours, police said the men left the apartment and went to a nearby store, which McManus said was an H-E-B.

The men left H-E-B and attempted to get into a vehicle, which turned out to be stolen, McManus said.

When officers attempted to apprehend them, one of the suspects ran off and the other was taken into custody, according to the report.

The suspect who ran off brandished a handgun during a short foot chase, police said. A detective fired at him, striking him once, McManus said.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the report said.

The detective who shot him is a 22-year veteran. He will be placed on administrative duty until further notice.

No officers or bystanders were injured.

George Herrera was at that H-E-B on Olmos Drive getting last-minute supplies before Christmas when he saw police.

“As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, there were police officers running,” Herrera said. “We really didn’t know what was going on. The officers cornered off the area pretty quickly. It was pretty intense.”

The SAPD Shooting Team and the Internal Affairs Unit will conduct separate but concurrent investigations. Their findings will be forwarded to the Bexar County District Attorney’s office for an independent review.
