Man shot, killed in northeast Bexar County identified by medical examiner’s office

  

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a man who was shot and killed in northeast Bexar County.

John Leonard, 39, died from multiple gunshot wounds on Tuesday night, the medical examiner’s office said on Thursday afternoon. His death was ruled a homicide.

Bexar County deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 8:42 p.m. in the 6800 block of Oldham Drive.

Upon arrival, deputies said they found a blue sedan with the driver’s door open and Leonard lying nearby with multiple gunshot wounds.

Deputies immediately began life-saving efforts, but first responders arriving on the scene took over CPR, BCSO said. However, Leonard was pronounced dead shortly after.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing several individuals flee the scene on foot. A juvenile was detained near the area for questioning, but no arrests have been made.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspects.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive or descriptions of the suspect or suspects.
