Man sleeping under I-10 hit, killed by car after driver lost control, brakes malfunctioned, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO – A man was killed after he was hit by a vehicle that malfunctioned under Interstate 10 on the Northwest Side on Friday morning.

San Antonio police said the crash happened just after 6 a.m. as the driver of the vehicle was on her way to work and took the turnaround under I-10 at Wurzbach Road.

The woman hit her brakes and they locked up. The momentum caused the car to go up on a sidewalk and hit a homeless man who was asleep near a pillar, police said.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, died at the scene.

His name was not released by SAPD.

Police said the incident is under investigation, and as of now, the driver is not facing any charges.
