The Jaguars took down Fort Bend Marshall Saturday afternoon in San Antonio.
SAN ANTONIO — The Mansfield Summit Jaguars claimed their first UIL Class 5A Division II state championship Saturday, defeating Fort Bend Marshall 54-47.
This marks a historic moment for the program, as it was the Jaguars’ first appearance in the state finals. They had previously reached the state semifinals in 2023— their only other tournament appearance— but fell to Killeen Ellison.
Mansfield Summit’s Ian Sedah, a 6’6 senior forward, was crowned the Most Valuable Player in the championship game after finishing with 17 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.
The Jaguars wrapped up their historic season with an overall record of 33-7.
