As I reported on Wednesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis sent illegals to the elites on Martha’s Vineyard. Massachusetts Democrats wasted no time complaining about DeSantis’ decision to drop off illegals on Martha’s Vineyard. Well, the elites have more than enough room and money to provide the illegals with food, drinks, and shelter, just like they have been advocating for all along, right?
Dylan Fernandes, a state representative, tweeted:
Currently immigrants are being dropped off on Martha’s Vineyard by chartered flights from Texas. Many don’t know where they are. They say they were told they would be given housing and jobs. Islanders were given no notice but are coming together as a community to support them.
Yet when illegals enter border cities, Fernandes never says, “many don’t know where they are,” because it does not impact him.
Fernandes also called illegals being shipped to Martha’s Vineyard “evil and inhumane,” adding that Republicans are using human lives “as political pawns.”
So it’s OK for illegals to travel all that way, get to the border, and enter border cities; that’s not inhumane, but when GOP governors try showing what it’s like for their residents and what they have to deal with, it’s political.
Terry MacCormack, Baker’s press secretary, said:
“The Baker-Polito administration is in touch with local officials regarding the arrival of migrants in Martha’s Vineyard. At this time, short-term shelter services are being provided by local officials, and the administration will continue to support those efforts.”
Again, I’m sure that the elites on Martha’s Vineyard will be able to provide the illegal with food and shelter; they advocated for allowing illegals into America, and now they have the opportunity to show that they actually care.
Fernandes tweeted images of the beds.
Our island jumped into action putting together 50 beds, giving everyone a good meal, providing a play area for the children, making sure people have the healthcare and support they need. We are a community that comes together to support immigrants.
Fernandes continued, tweeting:
These immigrants were not met with chaos, they were met with compassion. We are a community & nation that is stronger because of immigrants. The community coming together with water, food, interpretation help, & resources to support these families represent the best of America.
Many Democrats wanted open borders and illegals to come into America, so I’m glad they are taking care of them. How sustainable it will be is the real question.
Legal immigration should be encouraged, but entering the country illegally, is just that — illegal. The way immigrants entered the USA legally should apply to the illegals. Otherwise, it is a slap in the face for legal immigrants and the sacrifices they made to become U.S. citizens.
My colleague Sista Toldjah reported on Thursday about the utter hypocrisy of MSNBC’s Chris Hayes.
