McDonald’s Corp. is pulling back on its beverage-centric concept CosMc’s in Texas, less than a year since its debut.

The fast food chain announced on Jan. 9 that it will shutter three of its larger format CosMc’s locations in Texas. Six of the seven CosMc’s locations are in Texas, with two locations in San Antonio and four in North Texas. McDonald’s did not disclose which locations will shutter, but at least one in North Texas with close its doors.

Despite the closures of the larger format sites, McDonald’s revealed plans to open two smaller format locations in Texas this year. The concept’s smaller format sites allow for the testing of new products and operations for its customer base, the company said.

CosMc’s first entered the Dallas-Fort Worth market in March 2024 at Preston Road and Campbell Road in North Dallas. Not long after its debut, the concept announced plans to expand further across North Texas with openings in Watauga and Arlington. A Fort Worth location opened on McPherson Boulevard not long afterward and a location in Allen is still on the way, according to the CosMc’s website.

The beverage concept offers a menu of coffee, lemonades, tea, slushies and energy drinks, all with customization options. Although its food menu lacks burgers and fries, CosMc’s offers McDonald’s Egg McMuffin and M&M McFlurry along with its own creations like savory hashbrown bites and McPops, which are similar to donut holes with sweet fillings.
