The U.S. House of Representatives Children’s Caucus will hold a hearing in Uvalde on Monday afternoon so parents and teachers can talk about the ongoing impact of the Robb Elementary School shooting.
U.S. Reps. Sheila Jackson Lee and Joaquin Castro and Sen. Roland Gutierrez are expected to attend the listening session, which starts at 2 p.m. at the Southwest Texas Junior College’s Bluebonnet Room.
Parents, teachers and other public officials were also invited to attend.
“This is an opportunity to listen directly to parents and officials to help move forward a coordinated federal response on helping communities following tragedies that have an ongoing impact on children, and their families and communities,” a news release from Jackson Lee states.
Jackson Lee and Castro, both Democrats, have called for stricter gun laws in the four months since the school shooting, which claimed the lives of 19 students and two teachers. On Monday, they are expected to discuss federal trauma services provided to victims and their families.
The college is located at 2401 Garner Field Road in Uvalde.
