It appears former President Donald Trump’s ex-lawyer Michael Cohen has caught on to the popular political tactic: Always accuse your enemy of that which you are doing.

During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Velshi,” Cohen argued that if Trump wins the presidential election, “people will start flying out of windows” or be imprisoned for going against the former president, similar to what happens under authoritarian regimes like in Russia.
State-sponsored news just like what you have in Russia and their station which is called Pravda and means truth which is ironic, right? All of this goes away under a Donald Trump administration. Why? Because he doesn’t want to hear anything negative being said about him. The fact that you have this television show, the fact that you have the ability to speak truth to power, all of that goes away if in fact this man into becoming president.
Cohen brought up Republicans who have criticized Trump in the past but are now standing with him, claiming these individuals “believe that if Donald Trump wins and they are shoulder to shoulder with him, that they will have unlimited power which would of course give them the ability to have unlimited resources and assets.”
“It is all about him, not about his kids, not about his family, it is all about him,” the disgraced lawyer bloviated.
He concluded his tirade by claiming Republicans “think that they are going to hitch themselves to his wagon in hopes that they are going to elevate themselves whether it is in power, through money, through connections and so forth, it does not work that way.”

Cohen added: “He will not allow that, and just like Putin, once you start to get too big for your own britches, people will start flying out of windows, they will end up in gulags. As Donald says all the time, send them to Gitmo, send them to Guantanamo Bay.”
If the term “deflection” was a person, it would be Michael Cohen, who is obviously shilling for President Joe Biden. Ironically, the party he wants to win the election has already weaponized the government against political opponents.
Democrats are currently trying to prosecute Trump on a slew of charges. In the Manhattan business fraud trial, they managed to win a conviction. The objective is to influence the outcome of the upcoming election by making the former president less attractive to voters. They seem to believe that making him a convicted felon will turn people off and push them to support Biden.

Early indications suggest that the strategy is not working so far. Shortly after the conviction was announced, donations poured into Trump’s coffers as well as those of the Republican National Committee.
But it’s not just about Trump. The Biden administration has pushed social media companies to censor voices on digital platforms expressing opinions that conflict with the Democrats.
Now, it appears the FBI, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and others are back at it:
Key federal agencies have resumed discussions with social media companies over removing disinformation on their sites as the November presidential election nears, a stark reversal after the Biden administration for months froze communications with social platforms amid a pending First Amendment case in the Supreme Court, a top senator said Monday.
Mark Warner, D-Va., who chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee, told reporters in a briefing at RSA Conference that agencies restarted talks with social media companies as the Supreme Court heard arguments in Murthy v. Missouri, a case that first began in the Fifth Circuit appellate court last July. The case was fueled by allegations that federal agencies like the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency were coercing platforms to remove content related to vaccine safety and 2020 presidential election results.
The Supreme Court is expected to decide whether agencies are allowed to stay in touch with social media firms about potential disinformation. Missouri’s then-Attorney General Eric Schmitt filed the suit on the grounds that the Biden administration violated First Amendment rights pertaining to free speech online in a bid to suppress politically conservative voices.

Perhaps folks like Cohen who think they can fearmonger Biden into a second term should take another look at the party they are supporting if they are truly concerned about authoritarianism.
