HOT TAKES: People Notice Something Peculiar About a Staged Kamala Harris ‘Briefed by FEMA’ Photo
Whether the headphones are plugged in or not, that staged photo and caption do say a lot about Kamala Harris, with none of it being good.
Matt Taibbi Delivers the Quintessential American Speech at ‘Rescue the Republic’ Event in D.C.
I expected I’d enjoy Taibbi’s speech. I didn’t expect to love it. But I did. I absolutely, unabashedly did.
Kamala HQ Account Tries to Troll Vance Over Restaurant Fiasco, It Does Not Go Well
They were so intent on trolling Vance, they didn’t get that they were suggesting that it was in fact political and throwing the restaurant under the bus.
WHAT’S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill…
There are no meetings or hearings scheduled on the Hill this last day of September. (I suppose it’s a relief we aren’t being subjected to a shutdown battle, sort of.) There is still some scrambling regarding the farm bill, however. (Prediction: We’ll wind up with another stopgap on that.)
There are still some rumbles about Vice President Kamala Harris’ floated filibuster fix, with Republican Maryland Senate candidate (and former Governor) Larry Hogan maintaining he opposes such.

White House What’s Up
President Joe Biden will deliver remarks Monday morning regarding the administration’s response to the Hurricane Helene disaster, following which, he’ll head to the South Lawn to deliver remarks celebrating the 2024 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams.
The Homestretch
Harris will be flying back from Vegas to Washington, D.C., much of the day, though she’ll undoubtedly be hard at work helping to run the country. Upon her return to D.C., she’ll receive a briefing at FEMA HQ regarding emergency response efforts to Helene. Her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, is undoubtedly preparing for his big debate Tuesday night with Ohio Senator and Donald Trump running mate JD Vance.
The former president, meanwhile, will be in Valdosta, Georgia, Monday afternoon, where he’ll receive a briefing regarding the Helene devastation and deliver remarks to the press. (Interestingly, this announcement appears to have preceded the announcement that Biden would be delivering remarks on the matter this morning. #JustSayin)

MORNING MUSING
I blinked, and September flew by. It all feels like a manic footrace these days, but I can’t always tell if we’re running to something or away from something. Maybe both? One thing’s for sure: We all need to remain alert and on our toes. Barring a visit from the Sweet Meteor of Death between now and then, we’ll be steering the course of history in 36 days, hopefully in a way that inures to the benefit of the country — and world. Whatever that looks like, be ready.
LIGHTER FARE
These days, it’s dog bones plotting against my bare feet, but who can look at this image and not immediately feel that pain?
