More Compelling Moments From Butler: Trump With Comperatore Family, Meeting Elon, and a Paramedic’s Words

Former President Donald Trump returned to Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday to finish the rally that was interrupted by an attempted assassin’s bullets.

We reported earlier how they were giving special recognition of Corey Comperatore, who was killed during that attempt in July. They put his firefighter jacket and flowers in the place he had been sitting, in remembrance of him.

You might imagine that it would be big, with a lot of people turning out to support Trump, to stand with him against such evil. There are thousands in attendance including X owner Elon Musk. According to a report, the size of the crowd even before Trump shows up is massive:

“Not sure total crowd size but it might be largest I’ve ever seen. Most folks I spoke with in the crowd said Trump is here to finish what he started,” NBC reporter Jake Traylor reported on his X account..

Trump landed, and the first people he greeted there were the family of Corey Comperatore — his wife and two daughters:

Some of the people speaking at the rally had a hand in trying to help on that day in July, including the paramedic who helped Trump:

She spoke of hearing Trump speak to his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. What she saw on that day was a man who, in the aftermath of “one of the most terrifying experiences of his life, showed resiliency”:

He showed strength and courage. He showed that his family was at the forefront. He was a husband, a father, and a grandfather. He was compassionate and grateful. He was kind and humble. Several times, I stood and stared at him with tears rolling down my cheeks. He was someone’s dad. He’s a human — just like you and me. I held the hand of the man who sends out the mean tweets, and I thanked him for loving the country and fighting for our freedoms.

She praised the first responders who had done all they could that day.

Dr. James Sweetland, who tried to save Corey Comperatore’s life, also spoke. He praised the crowd present on Saturday, making the point that they were heroes for standing up for the right to support their candidate. A right that Comperatore died exercising, and that two other men — James Copenhaver and David Dutch — were injured exercising:

You wouldn’t have to think exercising such a right could be dangerous, but the attempt shows it can be.

Sweatband also asked them to forgive him for once being a Democrat.

They did have snipers for protection there, even though the roofs were sloped:

RedState’s Scott Presler was also there. Scott seems to have gotten everyone and his mother registered to vote in Pennsylvania. He spoke and called on everyone to get out and vote, to deliver the state to Trump and his running mate, JD Vance:
