TEXAS, USA — Large amounts of hail, up to golf ball-sized, woke up North Texans across DFW this morning.

Several WFAA viewers sent in photos of golf ball-sized hail that filled their front and backyards Saturday morning. In Ellis and Johnson counties, the storms caused widespread damage, toppling over 18-wheelers and RV’s. Four people were hospitalized due to the storms, officials said.

Videos from Tarrant and Ellis counties show hail falling thickly outside of homes. Several WFAA viewers sent photos that showed hail piled up in a mound in their front yard.

Wind speeds likely reached up to 80mph in some areas, according to WFAA’s weather team.

The most severe storms moved out of Dallas-Fort Worth by 8 a.m. However, there is a chance for more severe storms to form in the area this afternoon, prompting the WFAA weather team to extend our Weather Alert Day until 1 p.m.
