The rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, police said.

ARLINGTON, Texas — A 51-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding with a vehicle in Arlington, police said in a news release.

The crash happened around 6:24 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Eden Road and Golf Club Drive. According to investigators, the driver of a GMC Acadia was attempting to turn left from the westbound lanes of Eden Road onto Golf Club Drive when the motorcyclist, traveling eastbound, approached the intersection. The two vehicles collided, and the motorcyclist was thrown from his bike.

The rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, police said.

When officers arrived, they found the motorcyclist lying unresponsive in the roadway. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased once his identity is confirmed.

The Acadia driver, who was uninjured, remained at the scene and told officers he did not see the motorcycle before the crash. At this time, no criminal charges have been filed against the driver, Arlington PD said.

During their investigation, officers discovered narcotics in the motorcyclist’s pocket and have not ruled out the possibility of intoxication. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
