COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) -On Tuesday, MSC OPAS unveiled the lineup for its highly anticipated 2024-25 “Legends & Icons” season, featuring a diverse selection of Broadway national tours, concerts, and theatrical events at Texas A&M University.
The announcement took place before a packed audience of season ticket holders and supporters at Texas A&M’s Memorial Student Center’s Bethancourt Ballroom.
Beginning in September, OPAS will kick off a season filled with captivating performances, catering to diverse tastes in live entertainment.
The lineup boasts a stellar selection of performances to be presented from September 2024 to April 2025, featuring five events on the Ann Cobb Wiatt Main Stage series, three events on the Intimate Gatherings series, two on the Singular Sensations series, and a special Family Time event.
Season and priority single tickets will be available for purchase starting June 3 at the MSC Box Office and online at OPAStickets.org. Season ticket packages offer attractive savings opportunities ranging from 10-15% off regular ticket prices in select seating zones. Season ticket package buyers enjoy the advantage of seat assignments before single ticket buyers.
OPAS Executive Director, Anne Black, expressed her enthusiasm for the season’s lineup, highlighting the special tribute to Tony Bennett by Michael Feinstein. “Our 2016 concert by Tony Bennett remains one of the most talked-about programs in our recent OPAS history,” she remarked. Feinstein, renowned for his interpretation of the American Songbook, will lead the celebration of Bennett’s iconic music and career, accompanied by the esteemed Carnegie Hall Ensemble.
“Every year we think, ‘Oh, what are we going to do to top that,’ but you know we have some wonderful Broadway titles coming and great concerts,” Black added. “I think there’s something for everyone this season.”
Officials say since the 50th Anniversary season two years ago, OPAS has continued to attract new audiences in the Brazos Valley and beyond, with several capacity-filled performances, including last season’s “An Evening with Yo-Yo Ma,” which sold out early.
Black expressed particular excitement about the Broadway shows in the lineup, citing Tina Turner’s remarkable journey and the Tony Award-winning musical, Hadestown, as highlights sure to captivate audiences.
OPAS programs are made possible in part through Hotel Tax Revenue funded by the City of College Station through the Arts Council of Brazos Valley.
