IRVING, Texas — Multiple lanes of eastbound I-635 and northbound State Highway 161 near MacArthur Boulevard in Irving are shut down Wednesday afternoon following a deadly crash, police said.
According to the Irving Police Department, both highways have lanes shut down because of a deadly accident involving multiple vehicles.
Police said service roads are still accessible and traffic will be diverted onto Las Colinas Boulevard from State Highway 161 and MacArthur Boulevard from I-635.
TxDOT cameras in the area show a major traffic backup with several emergency vehicles on the interstate. The number of people involved and injury information was not immediately clear. However, the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that one person was dead at the scene and two vehicles were involved in the crash.
