Multiple people killed in Fort Worth crash on I-35W, highway reopened

 

Multiple people were killed after a Camaro rear-ended a car while heading north on Interstate 35W, police said.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Five people were killed and one person was in critical condition in a crash that closed down portions of Interstate 35W in Fort Worth early Monday, officials said.

Police responded around midnight to the crash on northbound I-35W near Seminary Drive. 

A Camaro rear-ended a sedan with multiple people inside, police said in a statement. All northbound lanes of the highway were closed Monday morning at Seminary Drive, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

Multiple people in the sedan died as a result of the crash, while the driver of the Camaro was injured and taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said. 

Medstar confirmed five people died: Three of the victims were adults and two were children.

The highway was closed for several hours Monday morning, but reopened by 5:30 a.m. The traffic investigation unit will determine if any charges are filed as a result of the crash, police said.
